For all you Dexter fans, it looks like the final season of the world's favorite serial killer is finally upon us. Dexter Season 8 is set to premiere on June 30th, and in the mean time Showtime has released a new trailer for the final season that should cast a little more light on what the Dexter series finale will bring. Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) will be going toe to toe with the FBI's elite serial killer psychologist Dr. Evelyn Vogle, and the interactions between the two will dictate the pace of the final season. Judging by the events in the new trailer, Debra Morgan (Jennifer Carpenter) will be playing a pivotal role in Dexter's ultimate fate and fans everywhere should be pretty pumped for how this show will end. You can watch the new Dexter Season 8 trailer below, as well as photos and stills from the final season.
For those unfamiliar with Dexter, it's an original Showtime series that chronicles the life and struggle of a serial killer that targets (interestingly enough) other serial killers. Being unable to control his insatiable urge for killing, Dexter works as a blood spatter analyst that leverages his knowledge and police connections to hunt down and eliminate serial killers or other scrupulous characters that fit into his 'code'. As he continues his spree of killings, members of his life and fellow coworkers in the Miami Homicide Department get caught up in his appetite for death and the decisions he makes eventually impacts everybody close to him.
The show itself has been around since 2006, has gone through seven seasons so far, and has garnered a massive 'Dexter fan base' across the globe. Despite recent criticism and poor reviews the show has been receiving from the last few seasons, it seems as if most Dexter fans have stuck out to watch the show's series finale this summer.
You can watch the premiere of the final season of Dexter on Sunday, June 30, at 9:00 pm EST.
